Audio Record expert is a shareware audio recording application which is capable of doing pretty much everything Audacity can do but with a pricetag attached to it. Though it is a pretty advanced program with a small but strong following of audio editing enthusiasts, it could use a little brushing up on the user interface.
Either way, with Audio Record Expert, you can pretty much record anything that your PC can receive. This includes telephone calls, microphone, audio playing in different applications and more. You can even have Audio Record Expert start recording on a schedule and do it from your cassette player, DVD player or a VCR if you wish. This audio recorder also features a silence detector and be configured to stop recording when there is a period of silence, thus freeing up disk space should that be an issue.
Though in honesty, if you want a free audio recording application, Audacity does much of what this program does and is updated much more frequently by their open-source team.
Though the developer states this program runs on versions of Windows up to Windows Vista, we didn't have an issue also running it on Windows 7 64-bit.
